The new media art exhibition “Novirzoties no kursa / Deviation” will feature technologically innovative art installations, virtual reality (VR) works, data visualizations, and video reflects the view of young artists on the potential trends of today’s reality.

The viewer in the 12 exhibition artworks will have the opportunity to see the representation of human memories, perception of time, brain activity, virtual reality, various fictional and real people, literary adaptation to new media and data visualizations.

Ieva Viksne in her art work SYNK IN examines the impact of biometric data – brain waves as an interface – on how the viewer experiences the virtual reality environment – the viewer will have the opportunity to sink in the water – the subconscious. In the Kaspars Lēvalds VR artwork “The House of Memory” virtual home rooms depict the representations of important memories for the author. Diana Paldina will blend her and the spectator’s memories into the scent cloud. Oskars Zikmanis asks the question of the ethics of the art market in the documentary “The Patron of Arts”.

The exhibition venue, cultural center “Kursa” (Liepaja, Zvejnieku Ale 11b-1) is a historic building where no contemporary art exhibitions have taken place before, but the space scenography encourages dialogue between generations, past, present and the future.
