The European Scientists’ Night, September 27, from 6 pm to 10 pm, in the Art Research Laboratory, MPLab (13 Kurmajas pr., entrance from Elkonu street) will host an exhibition called “In the Cage of Visions”. The exhibition explores the artists’ visions of the future and its possible scenarios – exhibition works inhabit the space between dreams, science and the fantasy.
Uldis Hasner visualized the myth of Singularity in 3D animation, and Ieva Vīksne offers viewers the opportunity to use telekinesis in virtual reality. Undine Celitane is inviting the viewers to immerse themselves in an interactive projection.
3 of the exhibiting artists are taking part in the Liepaja University administrated project “Development of Academic Staff of Liepaja University in Strategic Specialization – Natural Science, Mathematics and Information Technology, Artificial, Social Science, Commerce Science and Law” (No. 8.2.2.0/18/A/021). There will be 2 doctoral degree candidates participating in the exhibition – Maija Demitere and Signe Pucena who will show their most recent research results. Guest lecturer, photographer and curator Petras Saulenas will show a selection of his works.
The exhibition will also feature the interim results of the MPLab collaborative project “VR Not Bullies”, a virtual reality video project that teaches schoolchildren and youth empathy and understanding, supported by ERASMUS+.
